Privacy Policy

Summary
Dockpedia (“the Service”, “we”) is a catalogue and comparison tool for laptop docking stations. We collect as little data as possible. We do not require you to register, we do not run advertising, and we do not set tracking cookies. For aggregate, privacy-friendly traffic measurement we use Plausible Analytics — see the “Analytics” section below for details.
Information we collect
- Local browser storage. Your selected compare list and filter-mode preference are stored in your browser via
localStorage. This data never leaves your device and we cannot read it. You can clear it at any time via your browser's site-data settings. - Server logs. Our hosting provider may keep short-lived access logs (IP address, request path, timestamp) for security and reliability purposes. We do not link these logs to any personal identifier.
- No personal accounts. We do not request or store names, email addresses, payment information, or any other personally identifying information.
- No cookies for tracking. The Service does not set tracking cookies. Strictly-necessary cookies may be set by our hosting provider for load-balancing or anti-abuse purposes.
Analytics
We use Plausible Analytics to understand aggregate traffic to the Service (pages visited, referring source, country, device type). Plausible was chosen specifically for being privacy-friendly by design:
- No cookies. Plausible does not set any cookies in your browser.
- No personal data. No IP addresses, user IDs, fingerprints, or any other personally identifying information are stored.
- No cross-site tracking. Plausible does not track you across other websites and does not build a profile of your activity.
- Aggregate only. All metrics are anonymous counts (e.g. “47 visits to /compare today from the Netherlands”).
Under most interpretations of the GDPR and ePrivacy Directive, Plausible's measurement does not require a cookie-consent banner because it neither stores information on your device nor processes personal data. Full details: Plausible's data policy.
Third-party services
We use third-party infrastructure providers to operate the Service, including a hosted database and storage provider (Supabase) and the analytics provider named above. Your use of the Service may be subject to those providers' own privacy practices. We do not transmit any personal information to those providers beyond what is technically required to serve the page (e.g. IP address at the network layer).
Your rights
Because we do not collect personally identifying information from you, there is generally no personal data for us to retrieve, export, or delete. If you believe we hold information about you and wish to make a data-subject request, contact us using the address below and we will respond within a reasonable time.
Children
The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes take effect when published on this page. The “Last updated” date above always reflects the most recent revision.
